Migratory hives

Hives declared as migratory in the national beekeeping register, by region of origin, as of the annual cut-off of the agency that runs the register.

How to read this figure

Method

Hives under transhumance by region, as the bulletin prints them.

Limitations

The series publishes no figures while the bulletin table does not report how many beekeepers declare migratory hives in each region: without that number the protection of beekeepers cannot be applied. The region's total number of beekeepers will not do, because it may be larger and would let through cells with very few migratory beekeepers. There is a figure only for the years covered by an edition of the bulletin. SAG does not publish it every year, and a year without an edition has no figure, which is not the same as zero. In the 2023 edition, two regions print a dash in this column, which is a cell with no data and not a zero.

Confidentiality

A cell is published only if at least as many beekeepers as the minimum set by the observatory's confidentiality policy report to it. SAG publishes each cell's total and how many beekeepers report it, but not how much each one reports. Without that breakdown there is no way to tell whether a single beekeeper accounts for the cell, so the dominance rule is not evaluated and the minimum number of beekeepers applies.

Revision policy

The whole series is recalculated when the agency publishes a new edition, and the previous version is kept as an erratum with its reason.

Versions of the sheet

  1. 1.5.0 · 2 October 2026. Wording revised; no figure changes.
Earlier versions
  1. 1.4.0 · 28 September 2026. The limitations say the series can only have a cell for the years a bulletin edition covers, instead of saying it starts in 2023. The series still has no published figures.
  2. 1.3.0 · 27 September 2026. The record now notes what the series measures, so that the laboratory can check it only adds together series that measure the same thing. No figure changes.
  3. 1.2.0 · 26 September 2026. The record's prose was reviewed against the rule that admits no hand-written counts: any count is now derived from the series declaration, left out where it only accompanied the explanation, or given the date and the reference copy of the observation it comes from. Statements about which years have cells carry the date of this version. No figure changes.
  4. 1.1.0 · 26 September 2026. The record now also publishes in English its formula, its method, its propagation rule, its reference period, its frequency, its coverage, its first period and its revision policy, which up to this version were published only in Spanish. It also declares how many decimal places the figure is published with. No stored figure changes: the one published in the API, in the bulletin and in the download is the stored figure rounded to that precision.
  5. 1.0.0 · 8 September 2026. First published version of the record.
