About the observatory
Who runs it, which data it uses and under which licences.
What it is
The observatory brings together the public figures on Chilean beekeeping: numbers of hives and beekeepers, foreign trade in honey and bee products, prices, animal health and regulation. The figures come from national and international public agencies, and each one shows where it comes from.
Who runs it
The observatory is an initiative of BioAudita and aGo lab. BioAudita contributes its technical expertise and its knowledge of the agri-food and beekeeping sector. aGo lab contributes the technology infrastructure, data engineering, analytics and digital tools; it also runs the observatory, is the controller of the data the system processes and owns its publications.
Independence
The observatory publishes aggregated figures from public sources. It does not certify, verify or rate producers or companies, and the validity of a regulatory record rests with its holder and with the body that issues it. No data on BioAudita clients or audits enters the observatory, and the services the observatory offers to companies do not depend on a certification.
Licences
Each figure is published under the licence its source allows, and that licence appears on the indicator’s sheet and under each chart. Pieces that use material from the website of the Agricultural and Livestock Service (SAG) are published under the CC BY-NC-SA 3.0 Chile licence, for non-commercial use. The observatory’s methodological texts are published under CC BY 4.0, and its code under AGPL-3.0 or later.
Data for reuse
Everything on this site comes from a public, read-only API that serves the indicators, their sheets, their values and the lineage of each value. The API specification is linked at the foot of every page.
